Short Information - The Indian Coast Guard, an Armed Force of the Union, Offers a Challenging career to Young and Dynamic Indian candidates for Various branches and Posts after 12th Pass Navik General Duty (GD), after Diploma Pass Yantrik Post OR after 10th Pass Navik Cook & Steward Post. Indian Coast Guard invites online application form Every twice in a year.

The Indian Coast Guard Department and Organization with Multiple missions and a wide range of task capabilities and conducted both are a mission on Air and Surface Maritime Zone in a Country of India.

The Indian Coast Guard works in close to cooperation with the Indian Navy, the Department of Fisheries, the Department of Revenue (Customs) and the Central and State police forces.


Indian Coast Guard Sailors Training 




1. Navik General Duty (GD) - 
 
The Basic Training for Naviks will Commence in Aug & Feb Batches at INS Chilka followed by Sea training and Professional training in the allotted trade. Branch / trade will be allocated as per the requirement of service and performance during basic training.

Navik (GD) (12th Qualified Candidates) are Trained at INS Chilka, Orissa for 24 weeks Basic Training. The GD Naviks post branch Allocation at INS Chilka are deputed for afloat training for 03 months following by Cadre training. This training depends upon the cadre and varies from 4-6 months

Your basic training at INS Chilka will cover the following Points
(a) Academic and service subjects.
(b) Sports Activities.
(c) Outdoor training such as Parade Training, Sailing, Boat Pulling, Swimming,etc.
(d) Service oriented activities including maintenance of equipment, living spaces, training areas etc.




2. Yantrik

Yantriks (Diploma Holders Candidates) are trained at INS Chilka for 9 weeks Basic Training. Yantriks thereafter are deputed to CG ships (Sea Training) for afloat training for 03 months followed by Technical training at INS Shivaji / INS Valsura /NIAT (Naval Institute of Aviation Technology) / Ship Wright School spanning 90-100 weeks depending upon the branch.

Training Remark - Yantriks undergo competency certification in their respective cadres (Engineering / Electrical / shipwright).


3. Navik Domestic Branch (Cook & Steward) -

The Naviks (DB - Cook & Steward) undergo 15 weeks Basic training at INS Chilka followed by 03 months afloat training and approximately 06 months branch training at INS Hamla at Mumbai.

Professional Training



ICG Professional training is carried out at various levels of seniority. All the Coast Guard officers & Sailors are trained in Search and Rescue, Maritime Law, Boarding, Ocean Management and Maritime Pollution Control. SOs are trained in Maritime Law. Specialized training is conducted for officers & Sailors and enrolled personnel in their respective fields. Training is also conducted at foreign countries. Management development programme for mid level officers and senior officers are conducted through Indian institute of management. In addition to the management development programme, other behavioral science programmes are conducted at Centre for Research and Industrial Staff Performance (CRISP), Bhopal. Various technical courses and IT courses are also conducted at the institute. Flying and other training not available with Coast Guard is being outsourced to other civil institutes to impart the best and the latest training available.
