Short Information -  Indian Air Force (भारतीय वायु सेना) Invites Online Application form Unmarried Male (Indian / Nepalese) Candidates for Selection Test for Intake Twice in a Yearly Batches like January and June Batches to Join as a Airman in Group "X" Technical Trade and Airmen Group "Y" Non Technical Trade Twice in a Year.

Airman Group X Trades - Except Education Instructor Trade.
Airman Group Y Trades - Except Automobile Technician, Ground Training Instructor, Indian Air Force (Police), Indian Air Force (Security), Medical Assistance and Musician Trades.



Eligibility Conditions


  • Nationality - Indian and Nepalese
  • Gender - Male Candidates
  • Marital Status - Unmarried
  • Upper Age Limit -  as a date of enrollment 21 years




Education Qualification Details



1. Group "X" (Except Education Instructor Trade) - Passed Intermediate Level / 10+2 (12th Pass) / Equivalent examination with Mathematics, Physics and English Subjects with minimum 50% marks in aggregate and 50% marks in English Subject Separately. OR Candidates have Passed Three years Diploma Course in Engineering in any Stream. The candidate should have completed the course from a Govt recognised Polytechnic institute with at least 50% marks in Aggregate and 50% Marks in English in diploma or in Intermediate level / Matriculation, if English is not a subject in Diploma Course.

2. Group "Y" (Except Automobile Technician, Ground Training Instructor, Indian Air Force (Police), Indian Air Force (Security) and Musician Trades) - Candidates must have Passed Intermediate / 10+2 (12th) / Equivalent Examination in any stream or subjects approved by Central / State Education Boards with at least minimum 50% marks in aggregate and also  50% marks in English Subject.

3. Group "Y" (Medical Assistant Trade) - Passed 10+2 (12th) / Intermediate Level / equivalent exam with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English subjects with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate and also 50% marks in English Subject Separately.

Age Limit - In Case, a Candidate clears all the stages of the Exams & selection procedure, then the upper age limit as on the date of enrolment is 21 years.




Indian Air force Group X & Y Medical Standards



General Medical Standards for both Group X  and Group Y  are as follows -
  • Height - Minimum Height : 152.5 Cm
  • Chest - Minimum Expansion : 05 Cm
  • Weight - Proportionate to Height and Weight
  • Dental - Good set of teeth and minimum 14 dental points achive.
  • Hearing - Normal Hearing

Indian Air Force Airman Group X & Group Y Contains following selection stages to join as a Airmen in a Indian Airforce.
  1. Phase I - Written Examination (Computer Based Test / Examination CBT)
  2. Phase II - Physical Fitness Test PFT
  3. Adaptability Test - 1st
  4. Adaptability Test - 2nd
  5. Phase III - Medical Examination
  6. Phase VI - All India Merit / Select List

2. Physical Fitness Test (PFT) - 
  • 1.6 Km Running in 6 Minute 30 Seconds
  • 20 Squat ups (uthak Baithak)
  • 10 Sit Ups
  • 10 Pish Ups


3. Adaptabiliy Test 1st & 2nd
  • Adaptability Test 1st is basically the Situation Reaction Test Consists of 45 SRT which a candidate has to complete within a 30 minutes.
  • Adapptability Test 2nd is basically which is basically the Group discussion Test.Consists of 10 to15 candidates who are made to sit in a semi circle and assigned a topic which is of basic in Nature.

4. Medical Examination - 
  • Blood Haemogram Test - Hb, TLC, DLC
  • Urine RE / ME
  • X- Ray Chest (PA view)
  • Biochemistry Test - Blood Sugar Fasting & PP, Serum Cholesterol, Urea, Uric acid, Creatinine, LFT- Serum Bilurubin, SGOT, SGPT
  • EGC (R)


5.  All India Merit / Select List 

After who have passing all these above Phase Examinations tests. Central Airmen Selection Board prepares a All India Select List (AISL) based on the candidates scored marks secured by the candidates in the examination procedure. Those Candidates who make their name in the Final merit list Indian Airforce Send the call letter to join for the Joint Basic Phase Training at Belagavi Airman Training Centre.




Indian Airforce Airman Group X and Airman Group Y Salary




Traning - During Initial Training period, a stipend of Rs. 14,600 /- Per month shall be paid for Airmans. On completion of Initial training the starting gross emoluments at the minimum of scale of pay including Military Service Pay (MSP), Group  ‘X’  Pay  (applicable for IAF Airman Group ‘X’ trades only) and Dearness Allowance (DA) will be Provided.

Airman Group X Salary - Rs. 33,100 /- Per month plus Dearness Allowance (Applicable) which, in subsequent years, may rise as per the career progression of the individual.

Airman Group Y Salary - Rs. 26,900 /- Per month plus Dearness Allowance (Applicable) which, in subsequent years, may rise as per the career progression in IAF of the individual.
