1. Advertisement & Official Notification

  • Indian Coast Guard Release Advertisement & Notification for Naviks & Yantrik Post Recruitment Twice a year Published in the Employment News Paper and all Leading National and Regional News Paper in Dec & Jun Every Year so interested Candidates Can Apply for this post after the notification published.




2. Online Application Form 

  • The Online Application form are available on Indian Navy Official Site www.joinindiancoastguard.gov.in from the date of notification for the Respective batch and types of Various Posts.
  • Choice of Entry is to be clearly Indicated on the Online Application Form.

3. Shortlisting Criteria for Admit Card

  • Call Up Letter (Admit Card) For Written Examination - Short listing Criteria will be based on higher percentage of marks for a particular examination Centre (Zone Wise). The qualifying cut off percentage (%) of a particular Centre may be Increased if more number of applications with higher percentage is received. 


4.  Document Verification Process

  • Scrutiny of Documents for Eligibility will be carried out prior commencement of the Written Examination. Candidates are therefore required to appear at the examination Centre with the given following documents.
  • Three Copies of E-Admit Card with latest photograph Affixed.
  • Three Copies of Online Application form
  • Original Class 10th pass Certificate and Mark Sheet.
  • Original Class 12th pass Certificate and Mark Sheet. (12th Class Aggregate marks shall be calculated as best highest five including Physics & Mathematics as mandatory subject) - Only For Navik GD Candidates OR All Original Diploma Certificate and Mark sheets - For Yantriks Post
  • Original Caste (if  applicable) / Income Certificate for EWSs (Economically Weaker Sections) as per Government of India format (No other format will be entertained) available on ICG Official Website.
  • Domicile Certificate of their Respective State - The Permanent Address and Domicile of the Candidate should be of the Same Place / State.
  • Proof of Identity Such as Passport, Driving license, Aadhar Card / Voter I card, Pan Card, School / College ID card or any other Photo Identity proof.
  • Ten Recent Colour Passport size photographs with Blue background.
  • Self signed Undertaking Certificate as per Format provide on official website

5. Written Examination Navik GD / Navik DB / Yantrik (Offline)

  • Exam Type - Multiple Choice Questions (Objective Type)
  • Exam Language - Hindi and English (Mostly Refer English)
  • Exam Duration - 60 Minutes
  • Total Question - 80 Questions
  • Total Marks - 80 Marks
  • Negative Marking - No Negative Marking
  • Exam Based - Offline Exam

6. Physical Fitness Test (PFT)

  • Those Candidates who qualify the Written Examination will undergo Physical Fitness Test (PFT) and Initial Medical Exam (Preliminary). The testing procedure will take 2-3 days. Physically Challenged Candidates are not eligible to apply for Coast Guard Examination.
  • Results of the Offline examination will be announced on Same Day (After 1 to 2 hours of the Written Examination)
  • Qualify in PFT Physical Fitness Test is Mandatory for Selection in Indian Coast Guard.
  • PFT Consist of - Running 1.6 Km (1600 Meter) Run in 7 Minutes, 20 Squats (Uthak Baithak) and 10 Pushups

7. Initial Medical Examination

  • Medical examination will be conducted by authorised military doctors as per the medical standards prescribed in current regulations applicable to Naviks & Yantrik Entry.
  • Height Required for Join Indian Navy - For Male Candidates Minimum Height 157cm
  • Note - Candidates are advised to get their ears cleaned for wax, and tartar removed from teeth prior to initial and final medical examination.
  • Re-Medical - Preliminary Medical Examination for recruitment will be considered only Provisionally (Initial Medical) fit subject to fitness in the Final Medical Examination. Final Enrolment Medical Examination of all selected candidates will be held at INS Chilka Indian Navy and Coast guard Training Center. Candidates who are found medically fit in Final Enrolment to Medical Examination will be final enrolled. Candidates who are found medically unfit (Not fit) will be advised to appeal against its, if they so desire, at INHS Kalyani, Visakhapatnam or Nearest Center within a maximum period of 21 days.

8. Final Merit List & Joining Letter

  • The Indian Coast Guard (भारतीय तटरक्षक बल) Send a Joining Letter and Call Up Letter For Selected Students / Qualified Students in Navik GD / DB / Yantriks Posts. In this Letter Include Important Instructions for the Final Medical exam and Document Verification.
  • Final Merit List - For Navik GD / Navik DB / Yantrik Posts Zone Wise Merit List will be Prepared.

9. Final Medical Examination

  • Final Enrolment Medical Examination - Initial Medical Examination for Recruitment will be considered only 'Provisionally fit subject to fitness in the final medical examination' Final Medical Examination of all selected candidates in Navik GD, DB & Yantriks will be done at INS Chilka. Candidates, who are NOT found medically fit in the final medical examination at INS Chilka, will NOT be enrolled for Final  Fraining. 'An Appeal' is permitted for Medically unfit Candidates after the final enrolment medical examination at INS Chilka, Odisha and will be given an opportunity to appeal against the findings if they so desire at INS Kalyani, Visakhapatnam within a Maximum Period of 21  Days or as decided by INS Chilka.

10. Join Basic & Profession Training (Navik GD / Navik DB / Yantrik)

  • The Basic Training for Naviks will Commence in Aug & Feb Batches at INS Chilka followed by Sea training and Professional training in the allotted trade. Branch / trade will be allocated as per the requirement of service and performance during basic training.
  • Training Period - Navik GD 24 weeks Basic Training, Navik DB 15 weeks Basic Training & Yantrik 09 Weeks Basic Training at INS Chilka.
