Coast Guard Navik DB Eligibility Criteria

Online Applications are Invited for Male Candidates. This is a Excellent opportunity for Matriculation 10th Pass Students to join as a Naviks Domestic Branch DB (Cook & Steward) Post (Course Commencing for February and August Batches in every year)

Requirements - 
  1. Cook - You / They would be required to prepare food as per menu (both vegetarian and non-vegetarian including handling of meat products) and accounting of ration. In addition, they will also be allotted other duties for efficient running of the organisation
  2. Steward - You / They would be required to serve food in the Officer’s messes as waiters, housekeeping, maintenance and accounting of funds, wine and stores handling, preparation of menu etc. In addition, they will also be allotted other duties for efficient running of the organisation.
Education Qualification
  • Education Qualification - Candidates have Passed Matriculation (10th)  Pass with Minimum 50% marks aggregate in total from an educational board recognized by Central / State Government.
  • Additional (Optional) - 5 % relaxation in minimum cut off will be given for SC / ST candidates and outstanding sports personnel of National level who have obtained 1st , 2nd or 3rd position in any field sports events at the Open National Championship / Inter state National Championship.
  • Age Limit - Minimum 18 Years to Maximum 22 years (5 Years relaxation for SC / ST Candidates and also 3 Years for OBC Candidates)

Navik Domestic Branch DB (Cook & Steward) Selection Process

Indian Coast Guard Navik DB Posts Contain Four Stages to Join as A Naviks (Sailors) in Indian Coast Guard.
  1. Call Up Letter (Admit Card) For Written Examination - Short listing Criteria will be based on higher percentage of marks for a particular examination Centre. The qualifying cut off percentage (%) of a particular Centre may be Increased if more number of applications with higher percentage is received. 
  2. Document Verification & Written Examination - Offline Exam 
  3. PFT - Physical Fitness Test 
  4. Medical Exam 
  5. Final Merit List - Zone Wise Merit List will be Prepared.

Written Examination (Offline Based Examination)

Exam Type - Multiple Choice Questions (Objective Type)
Exam Language - Hindi and English (Mostly Refer English)
Exam Duration - 60 Minutes
Total Question - 80 Questions
Total Marks - 80 Marks
Negative Marking - No Negative Marking
Exam Based - Offline Exam



PFT - Physical Fitness Test

Based on the performance in the written examination, candidates will be shortlisted for Physical Fitness Test & Eedical examination in a ratio as may be decided by Coast Guard.

Qualify in PFT Physical Fitness Test is mandatory for Selection in Coast Guard.
Running 1.6 Km Run in 7 Minutes
20 Squats (Uthak Baithak)
10 Pushups

Important Note - The candidates physically challenged are not eligible to apply for this post.



Medical Examination

Minimum Height 157 Cm, Weight proportionate to Height and Age, Chest Should be well proportioned & Minimum expansion 5 Cm. Eye sight (Vision) 6/36 (Better eye) and 6/36 (Worst eye).


Selection of Candidates is based on the order of final merit list depending on their performance in Written Test, Physical Fitness Test (PFT) and fitness in the Medical Examination. 



Coast Guard Navik DB Syllabus
  • The written examination will be of objective type Multiple Choice Question MCQs, which will generally cover subjects Quantitative Aptitude, Mathematics, General Sciences, General English, General Awareness (Current Affairs & General Knowledge) and Reasoning (Verbal & Non Verbal)

Salary for Navik GD (General Duty)
  • Pay and Allowances - Starting Basic Pay Scale for Navik (DB) is Rs.21700/- (Pay Level-3), plus Dearness Allowance and other allowances based on nature of duty/place of posting as per the regulation enforced from time to time.
  • Promotion - Promotion prospects exist up to the rank of Pradhan Adhikari with pay scale Rs.47600/- (Pay level 8) with Dearness Allowance
