Indian Navy Pay Scale and Salary for Sailors Post - AA SSR MR 

All the Sailors have been divided into two group viz X (Technical Group) and Y (Non Technical). Artificer Apprentices is fall under the X-Technical group and rest of the sailors in Y-Nontechnical group. Pay scales in respect of sailors as per NI 1/S/08. The Detailed Indian Navy Sailor Pay Scale and Salary for both the groups are given below table -

Indian Navy Salary and Pay Scale for Sailors During Initial Training Period - 

• During the initial training period, a stipend of Rs. 14,600/- per month will be admissible.
• On Successful Completion of Initial training at Ins Chilka Odisha, they will be Placed in Level 3 of the Defence Pay Matrix (21,700-69,100). In addition, they will be paid  MSP  @ 5200/- per month plus DA (as applicable) plus X  Group  pay only for Artificer  Apprentice @  Rs. 6200/- per month plus DA.
• Insurance - Insurance cover on contribution of Rs. 50 lakhs for sailors is applicable.
• The rate of the stipend will be increases by 50% every time the Dearness Allowances payable on revised pay band goes up to by 50%.

 

Indian Navy Sailors Allowances (On the Basis of Rank Structure) -

• Instructional - Rs 900 to Rs 1500 Per Month. (On the Basis of Rank Structure)
• Submariner - Rs 10500 to Rs 12600 Per Month, (On the Basis of Rank Structure)
• Flying Aircrew - Rs 10500 to Rs12600 Per Month.
• Marine Commandos - Rs 10500 to Rs 12600 per Month.
• Diving - Rs 600 to Rs 900 per Month
• Sailors serving onboard ships (While sailing only) - Rs 3000 to Rs 5400 Per Month.
• Sailors posted in Nicobar and Lakshadweep Islands - 25% of Pay in Pay Band Plus GP Plus MSP Per Month.
• Transport for All Sailors - Rs 400 to Rs 1600 + DA

Indian Navy Sailors Promotion -

• Promotion prospects for Sailors exist up to the rank of Master Chief Petty Officer I, That is Level 8 of the Defence Pay Matrix (Rs 47,600 to Rs 1,51,100) plus MSP @ 5200/- per month plus Dearness Allowance (as applicable).
• Opportunities for promotion to a commissioned officer also exist for those who perform well and qualify the prescribed examinations.
