Coast Guard Assistant Commandant Eligibility Criteria


Various Officers Posts & Branches
  1. Asst. Commandant General Duty - For Men & Women
  2. Asst. Commandant General Duty (Pilot) - Only for Men
  3. Asst. Commandant Technical (Electrical / Electronics) -  Only for Men
  4. Asst. Commandant Technical (Mechanical / Aeronautical) - Only For Men
  5. Asst. Commandant Law Entry - For Men & Women
  6. Asst. Commandant Commercial Pilot License - For Men & Women

Education Qualification - 
  • General Duty & General Duty Pilot Entry -  Candidates who have passed Bachelor’s degree from any Recognised university. with minimum 60% marks in aggregate (1st Semester to 8th Semester) and Mathematics and Physics (12th of 10+2+3 scheme of education or equivalent with 60% Aggregate)
  • Technical Entry - (1) Engineering (BE / B.Tech) degree with 60% marks in aggregate or Should have passed Sections A and B examination from the Institution of Engineers (India) in any of the discipline with  60% marks. All the above streams of Engg. must be Recognised by All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE). (2) Physics and Maths in 12th class with at list 60% Marks or Three year diploma course.
  • Law Entry - A Degree in Law with minimum 60 % marks from a recognised University. (Three years degree in Law after graduation) or (Five years after 10+2 examination)
  • Commercial Pilot License - 12 th class pass with 60% Marks in aggregate and should possess current / valid Commercial Pilot License (CPL) issued / validated by DGCA  on the date of submission of application. 

Age Limit - 
  • General Duty & General Duty Pilot Entry - Minimum 21 years to Maximum Age Limit 25 years
  • Technical Entry - Minimum 21 years to Maximum Age Limit 25 years.
  • Law Entry - Minimum 21 years to Maximum Age Limit 25 years.
  • Commercial Pilot - Minimum 19 years to Maximum Age Limit 25 years.
Age Relaxation - 05 years Relaxation for SC / ST and 03 years for OBC Candidates.


Assistant Commandant Selection Process

Stage 1st - 
  • Short listing of Applications - Short listing criteria will be based on higher percentage  of marks in the qualifying examination and the qualifying cut off for a particular  branch or centre may be increased more than 60% if more applications with higher (%) are received.
  • Preliminary Selection - Shortlisted candidates will be called for Preliminary Selection at given date and time which will consist of Mental Ability Test / Cognitive Aptitude Test  and Picture Perception & Discussion Test (PP & DT). The aptitude test will be in English only and will be objective type. During PP & DT the candidates are expected to speak and discuss in English.However they are free to speak in Hindi if they wish to do so. Date / time and venue of Preliminary Selection once allotted will not be changed at any stage.
Stage 2nd - 
  • Final  Selection - The candidates qualifying above Preliminary Selection will be called for Final Selection. The date and venue for Final Selection Board (FSB) will be uploaded on Indian Coast Guard website www.joinindiancoastguard.gov.in The Final Selection Board will consist of Psychological Test, Group Task and Interview (Personality test). All documents / certificates verified during PSB are also required to be produced in originalsduring FSB.
Medical Standards - 
  • Height - 157 or 162.5 cm. Minimum and Maximum 197 cms. Leg length - Minimum 99 cm (for Pilot Entry) (Branches Posts wise Different)
  • Weight - Proportionate to the height and weight + 10% acceptable.
  • Chest - 5 cm Expansion .
  • Eye Sight - 6/6 in one eye and 6/9 in other correctable to 6/6.

Assistant Commandant Salary

On Joining of Assistant Commandant Various Posts of Coast Guard you will be Placed in Basic pay Rs. 56100 /- (Pay level 10) as per 7th pay commission and Also gives Pay / Allowances would be applicable  in a month  on appointment  as Assistant  Commandant  in Coast  Guard Line DA, Home Rent, Uniform etc. Allowances plus Post wise Different allowances provide you.

Promotion - Further promotions to the ranks will be as per the laid down promotion criteria. The pay scales for the various ranks are as follows.
